Yacht Insulation Applications

Properly installed insulation is important to the Air Conditioning system of your vessel and components on the interior of the yacht.

Thermal Insulation: Plumbing Lagging

Chilled water systems play an important role in meeting the cooling needs of your yacht. Chilled water pipes operate below ambient temperatures, proper insulation can protect these pipes from moisture and condensation problems such as corrosion and mold growth.

Adequate insulation can also safeguard against heat gain, which would otherwise minimize the cooling system’s efficiency.

Chilled water pipes are especially prone to moisture intrusion. Moisture intrusion is the condensation of vapor on the surface of the pipe. This happens because of the temperature difference between the chilled water pipes and the surrounding environment.

Vapor condensation and the formation of moisture on the surface of the piping network can result in a number of problems. First, moisture forms mold and mildew. This not only diminishes the efficiency of the cooling system but also poses significant health risks to facility workers.

Thermal Insulation: Bulkhead Applications

  • Mineral wool bulkhead insulation applications: Incombustible, semi-rigid, A-60 Rated Insulation, Lloyds Certified. For thermal and sound damping applications within machinery rooms of certified vessels.
  • Promagard Bulkhead insulation applications: A passive structural fire protection that uses microporous insulation. Provides IMO A-60 ratings in extremely low thickness when compared to traditional fiber materials.
  • Hullboard: Coast Guard Inspected IMO certified bulkhead insulation. Hull Board is lightweight, semi-rigid, all-purpose acoustic insulation. Hull Board has excellent thermal properties and is incombustible.
  • Microlight: Microlite is an incombustible lightweight thermal and acoustic blanket for use in marine applications.

Yacht Acoustic Insulation Solutions

Airborne and structural sound can be solved with several applications that our team inspects and installs with satisfying results. Using foam/ vinyl applications can greatly reduce sound within machinery and vessel spaces.

Other applications such as damping tiles and vibration isolators can greatly reduce structural noise.

The progenitor of Solar-powered boats

The boat is a reference point for solar-powered boating. Heike and Michael Köhler, experienced sailors and committed environmentalists, founded the company in 2004. Over the next half a decade, they measured the amount of energy produced and used on each trip, no matter how short or long, to figure out the best combination for electric propulsion with an entirely onboard energy supply.

After traveling 15,000 nautical miles in quest of information, they were prepared to construct their first entirely solar-powered, self-sufficient bluewater catamaran, the Solarwave 46. It was then time to put the boat through another half a decade of testing on the European rivers, the Black Sea, the Aegean, and the fabled Mediterranean.

Battery capacity of 225 kWh, two 250 kW motors

The first Silent-Yachts catamarans that Captain Miller skippered were at the start of 2019 when he sailed again from the Bahamas to Florida. His boating expertise informs the company's design advancements. “There are noticeable changes to the aesthetic and design of the boat "You can clearly see and feel the improvements in every boat after that 64," he claims. The greatest boat Silent-Yachts has ever constructed, in my view, and unquestionably the best I have ever commanded.
